Do I need a swimbait rod?

As bass fishermen get into the swimbait craze the most often asked question is "Do I need a swimbait rod?" The answer to that question is YES!!! I hear guys tell me that they can throw big baits like the Huddleston's on a flipping stick or, worse yet, a striper rod.

A swimbait rod is designed to cast heavy baits long distances, set and penetrate big hooks, and pull big fish to the boat. A swimbait rod has to have a little bit of tip action for letting the fish eat the bait but a strong mid-section to load up for casting. They take most of the work out of fishing the big baits and let you effectively cast and fish the baits for an entire day.

Flipping sticks are for flipping and swimbait rods are for catching trophy bass that in the past were "the ones that got away".

Dobyns Rods offers five swimbait rods including the Mike Long Signature series and the 8'6" Trophy Hunter Rod.
